Mei and Lan are 9 year old twin girls who are being helped by our Dew Drops Family Support project. The girls were born prematurely to an ethnically Tibetan family in a western province. Lan is affected by cerebral palsy and needs physical therapy, and Mei has problems with her vision; they were referred to Dew Drops not only to arrange the services they need, but also because we are able to provide accommodation and support to their family. The girls, accompanied by their grandparents came to our Family Support unit in August 2016.
Mei recently received a new pair of glasses and now can see clearly! In November 2016, the family moved back to their home town. We continue to support them with training and other resources. We also assisted their grandmother who had some eye problems.
In July 2017, the twins came back to Beijing for follow-up checkups. Mei visited the eye specialist and Yan had physical therapy sessions. Mei will be back again in three months time for a follow-up consultation.
